Just One Switch - Collaboration with Counter Culture Beauty Store.

AD *This is a collaboration with Counter Culture #JustOneSwitch campaign and there is a little gift for you at the end of this post.

Do you remember when I announced that I was part of the Ethical Influencer Community? Well, in case you don’t… I am part of the Ethical Influencers community!

(You can read the blog post where I talk about it here)

It is a great community founded by Besma that helps you to connect with great eco-friendly businesses. And I have to tell you, I have been connecting and collaborating with lots of beautiful brands!

My latest collaboration is with Counter Culture which is hosting the campaign “Just One Switch”.

Counter Culture is a new online sustainable and ethical beauty store and they launched a campaign where they are asking people to do Just One Switch: to swap at least one conventional beauty item that they currently use in their beauty and self-care routine to a more sustainable version.

They offer a big range of eco-friendly beauty products to choose from, promoting the idea that if all of us do one easy switch we could significantly reduce the impact we have on the planet plus we would start approaching a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.

Imagine if we all did just make one swap and it would be enough. Just one tweak, just one change in our daily routines that make the world a better place.

That is why I thought this campaign was a great initiative to be part of.

Counter Culture gifted me 4 products of my choice to test and asked me to review them.

I have been trying them for 2 weeks now and these are my thoughts. I also did a little reel video that you can see on my Instagram.

My review

I already started swapping some beauty products for sustainable ones like using a bamboo toothbrush, reusable face wipes or shampoo bars. But there were still a couple of products I was using that I didn’t swap yet like a deodorant, SPF or makeup. So I made the most of this opportunity and selected the eco-friendly products I was missing.

It has been a while I wanted to try a natural deodorant but I wasn’t sure which brand should I go for so I was happy to try one from Counter Culture.

The first day I tried my new deodorant I could smell the very nice patchouli scent, but I wondered if maybe I was adding too much! But I haven't smelled it the last few days so maybe I have applied a bit less but it still works.

I was very excited to add this product to my beauty routine because recently I was told the best skincare routine is a very simple one: wash your face, moisturise and add SPF every single day.

My skin is very sensitive and pale and normally with new products I can get a bit of a reaction and some redness. But this SPF works very well on my skin plus it doesn’t have a strong smell and it isn’t sticky.

It feels very nice and soft on my skin, so I really enjoy the process of applying it in the mornings.

I wanted to try something different with this lipstick and I decided to pick up a darker colour to match the autumn season.

When I first applied it, I wasn’t sure of the colour, as I am not used to seeing myself with dark lipstick. I thought: “I will just use it for Halloween!” But after a couple of times wearing it, I started to like it more. I guess I only needed to get used to it!

Apart from the colour decision which is a totally personal choice, the lipstick once applied solidified pretty quick giving a beautifully finished matt. I was also surprised to see after eating, drinking or even rubbing my face - not intentionally, again, I am not used to wearing lipstick! - the colour would stay perfectly. Lipstick for clumsy people like me!

I wanted a foundation that would go with my skin tone, something to unify but not to cover my freckles. This base feels soft and looks very natural, I added it on top of the SPF and it worked very well. Again, no skin reaction or redness, so that is a win for me.

This is my review of these Counter Culture products. I will keep using them and I will keep you posted on how they perform.

Overall I am very happy with these swaps and being able to take part in this great Campaign.

I hope you enjoyed my review!
