A sustainable clothing brand reached out to me some months ago. They needed some help with their instagram content and management. They had some pictures of different dresses on their instagram, a big mix of styles, however people was not really engaging with their posts.
But why? You would say that those images were aspirational ( read my blog post where I talk about the "Photography that your business needs to succeed" here)
Instagram is an over saturated market and good quality images showcasing your product can help your business to stand out. But there is also something else you need: a unique story, a consistent message that you will be telling to your customers. Basically, your business story.
People want to be able to relate to your story, to get to know you, to trust you and as a consequence, invest on you. Don't be afraid of share your story, it will help you to connect with your audience.
Once my client told me their story, I asked them: What do you want people to feel when they see your brand? When they wear your dresses?
They said: “I want people to feel like we are a friend they can trust. That they can look good on our dresses, feel good because they are versatile and comfortable, and do good because they are sustainable”.
I had exactly the information that I needed it. I created this post you can see below:
And then I created more images of how people will feel once they wear the dresses on different occasions. Example: having a relaxing time at home, enjoying a glass of wine with friends, going for brunch, and a long etcetera due to the versatility of the dresses.

Mix all these points and I am sure you will create post that your audience will engage with.
Since we implemented this strategy, my client has earned 1 new follower per day and the engagement rate has double up. So I think it is worth give it a try.
